A Double Drowning
Hunting in a wooded vale
a boy is drawn to a field
and a pond where, on a bed of reeds,
his twin sister, Narci, lies.
Sticks floating in a trail,
the sun-reflected rays,
flies busy as rain,
do not distract his gaze.
In his time of grief
voices go unheard, as would-be
lovers walk from the trees
seeing in his stare endless vanity.
